The Vision of the nX Annex
The nX Annex is a creative and cultural hub born from the work of Nexus Community Collaboration, a nonprofit that has nurtured Bakersfield’s arts scene for more than twenty years. Through poetry series, art shows, film screenings, music gatherings, and community-centered events, NXCC has built a legacy of expression, storytelling, and connection.
The nX carries that lineage forward. It is a space designed for movement, art, wellness, and community. It has welcomed poets, musicians, teachers, healers, and creatives of all kinds. Every detail reflects intention and care. Every event honors the belief that creativity and community are essential to a thriving city.
This space exists because of the vision and stewardship of LisaAnn LoBasso, whose dedication to uplifting the arts and the people of Bakersfield has created a true home for expression, gathering, and belonging.
How Our Paths Came Together
We first connected with LisaAnn through the same spirit that guides Bhramari. Community. From our earliest conversations, there was a sense of alignment. LisaAnn understood our desire to create a healing-centered studio rooted in presence, belonging, and relational care. We felt her commitment to shaping spaces where people feel seen, welcomed, and supported.
Walking into the nX felt like a yes. The light, the quiet, the intention in every detail. A space that invited breath. A space where healing could unfold honestly. A space where our community could grow roots.
This partnership was never about renting a room. It was about co-creating something meaningful. Two visions meeting in the same purpose: to make Bakersfield a place where people can heal, grow, create, and belong. We are deeply grateful to LisaAnn for opening her doors and trusting us to bring this next chapter of community care into the nX.
Why This Space Matters

What makes this space especially meaningful is the art that lives here. Each piece is thoughtfully curated by and for the Bakersfield community. We practice among the stories, colors, and expressions of local artists, surrounded by the creativity that has shaped this city for two decades. The art becomes part of the practice. It holds us. It teaches us. It reminds us that healing and creation share the same root.
Choosing this space was choosing our values. Choosing a future rooted in accessibility, creativity, community care, and belonging. A future where art and healing live side by side. A future where spaces like the nX become anchors of hope and transformation in our city.
We feel grateful, humbled, and honored to call this our first home.
